    No. Chief Labs offers you the ability to order any laboratory test without the need for a doctor's referral. The tests offered by Chief Labs are the same tests that health care providers, such as doctors and hospitals, order on a daily basis. Chief Labs utilizes CLIA certified laboratories, just like health care providers, that are regulated by the appropriate government agencies.

  2. Who would use Chief Labs?
    There are many people who would benefit from using Chief Labs. To name a few, those individuals who do not have health insurance and cannot afford the full price of laboratory testing charged by many health care providers, individuals who wish to take greater control of their health by ordering laboratory tests of their choosing on their own schedule, individuals who wish for their results to remain private and confidential, and individuals who would like to save money on their laboratory tests regardless of their insurance status. Most often, it is much less expensive to order your laboratory tests through Chief Labs than to pay much higher costs with insurance or against a high insurance deductible.

  3. How does Chief Labs work?
    Chief Labs makes your lab testing process simple. There are only four steps:
    Create your account, order your desired tests, get tested, and finally, receive your results through your Chief Labs account.

  4. Why should I get tested now?
    Many serious conditions like diabetes, lipid disorders, anemias, heart disease or cancer may exist without noticeable symptoms for many years. A blood test has the ability to bring unnoticed disorders and diseases to your attention. It is crucial to detect disease and disorder as early as possible.Pleasenote, only a licensed physician can make a diagnosis.

  5. Is this test covered by my insurance?
    Chief Labs does not file insurance claims or accept insurance as a form of payment. Chief Labs does not provide CPT codes for insurance reimbursement. Some insurance plans offer Health Savings Account or Flex Spending Account Cards, which Chief Labs accepts as forms of payment.

  6. Can I order a test for someone else, such as my child or family member?
    Yes. Simply fill in the information for the person being tested in the "Client Information" section when you order the test(s). If you have further questions, please call 1-844-248-7463.

  7. What is a Collection Center?
    Collection Centers are certified laboratories where clients will have their blood drawn as well as urinalysis and DNA collections. Chief Labs offers over 1,900 Collection Centers across the nation. The Collection Centers employ licensed phlebotomists who are utilized by health care providers.

  8. Is there a location close to me?
    Chief Labs utilizes strictly CLIA certified laboratories and offers over 1,900 Collection Centers across the nation. Please visit Chief Labs' Home page to use the Collection Center locator to find a Collection Center near you. If a Collection Center is not available within a satisfactory distance, please contact Chief Labs at 1-844-248-7463 to make special arrangements.

  9. Do I have to make an appointment?
    No. You are never required to make an appointment with any of our Collection Centers. However, we do recommend that clients call the Collection Center of their choosing to confirm hours of operation.

  10. Are the test results reliable?
    Chief Labs utilizes the nation's leading CLIA certified and fully licensed laboratories, which are the same laboratories used by your healthcare provider.

  11. Will Chief Labs keep my results confidential?
    Yes. Your confidentiality and privacy are of utmost importance to Chief Labs. Chief Labs will release your results to you alone. Chief Labs does not report or release your results to any party other than yourself. Chief Labs does not report results to insurance companies.

  12. How long does it take to get my results?
    You may receive your results in as few as 24 hours from the time your sample is collected at a Collection Center. When your results are ready, you will receive an email letting you know that you may now view and print your results in your Chief Labs account.

  13. Will I be able to understand the results?
    Yes. Test results include the normal reference ranges, with abnormalities indicated on your report. If your results are abnormal, Chief Labs recommends that you seek immediate counsel with your health care provider.

  14. What should I do if my results are abnormal?
    If your results are abnormal, Chief Labs recommends that you seek immediate counsel with your health care provider.

  15. May I contact Chief Labs if I have questions about my results?
    Chief Labs will answer questions about reference ranges. Chief Labs does not provide medical counsel of any kind. Chief Labs strongly suggests that you contact your health care provider if you wish to discuss your specific results and their possible implications.

  16. Will my health care provider receive a copy of my test results?
    No. Chief Labs releases results to you alone. You may provide your test results to whomever you wish.

  17. May I cancel my order?
    You may cancel your order prior to the collection of your sample at a Collection Center. If you cancel your order, you will receive a refund equal to the price of the test(s) minus a $25 cancellation fee and minus 10% of the test fee per test. There are no refunds if you have had your sample collected at a Collection Center. If your sample cannot be collected by a professional at a Collection Center, and it is verified by the Collection Center, you will receive a full refund. There is no cancellation refund after six months.

  18. Can Nutritional Reports be ordered by anyone?
    Yes. Chief Labs allows anyone to order a nutritional report analysis when ordering a blood panel. Please remember that statements provided within the Nutritional Report have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration and the information is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

  19. Why is the $19.00 draw / MRO fee added during checkout?
    A $19.00 draw/MRO fee is assigned to each person being tested during checkout. The draw/MRO fee refers to the cost for a phlebotomist to draw your blood at a Collection Center.
